Super_Collider - "Head On" (1999)

Super_Collider is a collaborative effort between experimental-techno stalwart Christian Vogel and Jamie Lidell. If you are into a completely immersive, disorienting headphone experience, check out this album.

It bombards your brain with information, and it takes several listens to start to "get it", but once you do, you'll realize that this is some pretty funky stuff.

There are strange effects galore, phase shifts, distortions, and all manner of trippy sounds coming at you from all directions. However, because Lidell's vocals and the song structures are primarily traditional, the album is nearly pop, albeit incredibly warped, twisted, and experimental pop.

So get it here:

Wow- I forget about this record- This deserves some background. At the time, the IDM computer geekdom had two major programs to 'write' music in code form: MAX/MSP or SuperCollider. At my institute we had a thing with the Cycling74 guys so it was the program most instructed. Either way it was a time consuming way to develop sounds and effects (unless you had a code-wizard mind) but the perimeter control was impressive.
I preferred a graphical interface and went with Plogue.

Thanks for the memories/upload!
