The guitarist Christy Doran is a fine jazz-rock guitarist, born in Ireland but living most of his life in Switzerland. The drummer Fredy Studer is a frequent companion of Doran's, with a wide experience of rock, jazz & free-improv musics. Keyboardist & occasional horn player Django Bates is best known for his work with the English group Loose Tubes. Electric bassist Amin Ali is the brother of Coltrane's drummer Rashied Ali. He's done brilliant work with James Blood Ulmer's Music Revelation Ensemble. And Phil Minton works mainly as an improvising singer and sung with most of the worlds leading improvising musicians as well as been a guest singer for many composers music. There has been a lot of discussion about this album... Minton's free-form vocal performances, which often contain as much "noise" (burps, gurgles, shouts, gargles, clicks, groans...) as pitched notes, annoys most of the straight Hendrix fans. The comparingly kinda odd musical approach by the rest annoys most of the so called avantgarde listeners...
Well, I can hear the fun the people had during these recordings. And Minton's vocal interpretations are totally outstanding. So judge for yourself !
