David Grubbs (guitarist, pianist, and vocalist) was a founding member of Squirrel Bait, Bastro, and Gastr del Sol. He has also played in The Red Krayola and The Wingdale Community Singers.
David Grubbs’ last piece "Hybrid Song Box.4" began as the accompaniment to installation artist Angela Bulloch’s 2008 eponymous artwork, which was part of the Guggenheim’s Theanyspacewhatever exhibit last year.
But don't be afraid: David Grubbs's 26-minute soundtrack picks up sonically where "An Optimist Notes the Dusk" left off. Grubbs brings his thick, solid-body electric guitar tone to the most relaxed of tempos, the most spacious of handlings.
