The Reactionaries - In George Hurley's Shed (1979)

The Reactionaries
were a band formed by D. Boon, Mike Watt and George Hurley with vocalist Martin Tamburovich at the end of 1978 in San Pedro. D. Boon and Mike Watt had been playing for several years already, but this is the first band they started writing songs for. At a Clash show they came in touch with people from the band Black Flag, and so The Reactionaries played their first gig opening for Black Flag in early 1979 in San Pedro. D. Boon broke up the band by the fall of that year, and would later form the highly influential band Minutemen in January of 1980 with Mike Watt. Hurley would soon join this band, after a short stay with new wave band Hey Taxi!

I really love the Minutemen. So here is where they came from - a recording made in George Hurley's shed in 1979. Well, you can tell from the sound that it's recorded in a shed. But 'Tony Gets Wasted In Pedro' which appeared on the Minutemen album "The Politics of Time" is from the same session.

Get it here: The Reactionaries - In George Hurley's Shed (192Kbps)

Then there is this 6-song-demo that I don't know anything about. Except that the sound really improved and it's recommended:

The Reactionaries - Demo (320Kbps)

Enjoy !
