The band Gong introduced me to real spaced out psychedelic rock with a progressive attitude including sudden saxophone explosions and syncopated rhythms which are closer to free-jazz than most of its colleague's efforts back in the days - and they are still around for 40 years now. They were formed in 1967, after Daevid Allen - then a member of Soft Machine - was denied entry to the United Kingdom and remained in France instead where he and a London-born Sorbonne professor, Gilli Smyth, established the first incarnation of Gong. One of their masterpieces is the 3rd album of their "Radio Gnome Invisible"-trilogy called "You" from 1973.

So far so good. But then in 2004 Gong was crowned by the participation of two members of Japan's underground psychedelics The Acid Mother's Temple - Kawabata Makoto and Cotton Casino. How great is that ?
It's still Gong ! - But over all, this is an album that does the Gong name its full justice in the 21st Century. Try it, folks !

Good to see one of my favourite bands turn up here! I've been enjoying the music of Gong for the past 15 years or so, and thanks to all their collabrations, solo albums, side-projects and spin-offs there's always something new to discover in their huge discography. I also like Steve Hillage's solo output by the way.
