Guitarist Nels Cline and drummer Gregg Bendian pull off this re-imagining of John Coltrane's final album, the sax-drums duet suite "Interstellar Space". Wisely, Cline and Bendian don't try to replicate the original album, or to transcribe Coltrane and Rashied Ali's parts. Instead, they use the restless, exploratory spirit of the original as a jumping-off point, and use the structures of the tunes as the basis for their own ideas.
Alternative Press wrote:"...Cline's range is extraordinary...maintaining a clear vision that unifies the disparate elements of Coltrane's music....Gregg Bendian's drumming strikes an impressive balance between raw power and avant-jazz..."
The Wire said:"...the duo confirm the depth of their communion with Coltrane's music, Cline floating his notes on Bendian's vibraphone ripples. A poignant end to a fearlessly executed project."

You might find this interesting.
We refer to it as "Analog Music from a Lost World" — previously unreleased post-punk experimental rock from 1981, unlike anything else recorded before or after.

"This is amazing stuff and we would be honored to feature it in wfmu's curated portal on the free music archive. I'm very sorry for our slow response, we have a lot of stuff to wade through to find gems like these."
