R. Crumb & His Cheap Suit Serenaders (1974)

"I was one of those social rejects, but then, you know, a lot of people were — nothing unusual about being an outcast in high school." - Robert Crumb

Ok, something for springtime: The selftitled 1st album by R. Crumb and his Cheap Suit Serenaders features famous cartoonist Robert Crumb himself, Allan Dodge, and Robert E. Armstrong. The record contains up-tempo string band music, mostly songs from the early part of the 20th century. It's fun, light hearted and has surprisingly little sarcasm considering the tone of the nominal leader's better known art form !

"Bring a load-a, RC Cola, TV dinner, plate-a twinkies, takes a pink burrito, for to keep me clean." (from "Get a Load of This")

It's been released on Blue Goose in 1974.

And enjoy !

Thanks--great to hear this recording again. But...the Little Rascals Medley isn't there--the Cuckoo Waltz appears in its place.
